Mentoring

Mentor’s/Mentee’s are matched to form a partnership.  These partnerships are the core of our services.  Mentors volunteer for a one year commitment. A one day mentor training session is provided on a scheduled Saturday.

Purpose of the relationship:

  • To establish realistic goals for the mentee, and steps that are necessary to attain them

  • To establish a compassionate presence that is willing to listen (without trying to answer every question or solve every problem)

  • To serve as a role model for responsible adult behavior

Each partnership is involved in our bi-weekly group sessions.  These sessions offer our clients self-esteem workshops, anger management workshops, parenting workshops, job readiness workshops, and financial awareness workshops.

The program also provides assistance with employment search, basic education tutoring, and referrals to substance abuse programs.
